So about a month ago I got a calling that I was pretty sure I would never get and one I didn't really want at first, it pulled me way out of my comfort zone. It was to be the Young Women's basketball coach. I will admit I laughed really hard when they extended me this calling and I told the second counselor that he had the wrong girl seeing as how I knew absolutely NOTHING about the game, but I accepted the challenge.
As the season began I was nervous, awkward and really hung back and just let the other coaches work with the girls, but after a few practices and games I began to find my comfort level and really started to enjoy my calling. Well our season has come to an end and I am really going to miss the time I have spent with these girls.
These young women are truly amazing and have taught me so much about teamwork, perseverance and friendship. They go out there and play with all they have got, they give every teammate a chance to have the ball and shoot, they encourage each other, they play injured and they have fun while doing it. I am truly going to miss getting the chance to spend Saturdays with them and I am so grateful for the opportunity I was given to step outside my comfort zone and try something new.

Wow--good for you! I would totally stink at that!
That sounds like you really had a fun time trying something new and different. Now, next time it won't be nearly as daunting! Great job Lynsey!
I had that calling once upon a time, the girls were convinced that I knew more than the coaches at the school...which is really funny because it's not true!
During one game one of my girls very obviously fouled another player, and started appologizing profusely...the ref was laughing so hard she decided not to call the foul. Church ball is hilarious!
As I was reading your post it made me think of your Patriarchal Blessing. I remember being so impressed with your abilities and potential when I had the privilege of hearing it in person.
That can be a calling?! COOL! I love finding out new callings I've never heard of before. :) This is so neat too, to hear about how it went as you got into it. Congratulations on a job well done. I am impressed!
Yay! Sounds like fun. Hey Question I've seen people have their friends blogs on the side but how do you get their updates to show up too?
