A Little Bit of Culture

Last night Ben and I had the opportunity to spend the evening with good friends, food and entertainment. We started the evening with dinner at the Cheesecake Factory (Yum) and then we headed over to the Buell Theater for Phantom of the Opera. I love this play and for a long time it was my favorite until I saw Wicked (Thanks Dixie). I have to say that Ben and I were both a little disappointed with the performance. It just wasn't as good as others we have seen. Christine had a nice voice but she lacked the power behind it and when they had multiple people singing you couldn't hear them that well, maybe they were having technical dificulties.

I do have to say however that the man who played the phantom was AMAZING! He has quite a talent, he is the only man to play the leading role in Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables on Broadway. Overall though I must say that we did enjoy ourselves and are looking forward to the next time we get a chance to go back to the theater.

Your mom said you'd gone to the theatre - she called while waiting for Bill to finish his MRI - and told us they'd been run ragged chasing balls all over the previous night - sounds like Joseph takes after his Pretty Great Grandpa Hansen (he LOVES playing ball - played and coached a lot in his day).

Cute "grumpy face" photo of Joseph - doesn't look grumpy though! Give him hugs from his Pretty Great Grandpa and Aunt-E.

Glad to hear Ben found a job, too.

The Phantom is one of those stories that reminds us that even bad guys have feelings. It's quite touching and is about the kind of injustice which I think only an eternal perspective can soothe. It's great that you got to go.
