Fooled Me!!

So my sweet, wonderful, amazing husband did the sweetest thing for my 30th birthday. He arranged for us to have a surprise dinner at Hacienda Colorado with six of our closest couple friends. I had no idea what was coming even though I had hinted about it all month long ( yes really I did), so I was incredibly bummed when the hostess blew the surprise! Ben and I had walked into the restaurant and he said he had a reservation, well rather then telling us our table was ready so she said oh yeah the party of 14 right? I couldn't believe she did it, Ben had called three times to make sure they knew it was a surprise and our friends had also reminded them. Oh well we still had a wonderful time together and after dinner six of us went to the movies to see The Hunger Games. On Sunday my mom made me my favorite dinner and Thin Mint cheesecake for dessert. Yummy!! Then Ben and my mom gave me a new digital camera that I have been eyeing and saving up for, I am so excited to use it. On my actual birthday some wonderful friends from church took me out to lunch at Chili's and what fun we had. I just love being with family and good friends! Thanks for making my birthday so fun and memorable.

I am gonna eat all your cake mom!

Ahh mom it is no big deal.

Coyote Song Trail

We have been having some beautifully warm weather in Denver this week and so we had to take advantage of it and go on our first hike of the season. We took a short drive over to South Valley Park and hit the trail. It was a perfect morning to hike with a little cloud cover, a nice breeze and no one else on the trail. This trail is perfect because we are only minutes from home, but you feel as if you are in the middle of no where.

The boys leading the pack.

I love the coloring on these rocks.

If you look closely, you can see two real bunnies as Joseph called them.

Some cool red rocks.

Ahhhhhhh

Joseph and his dog.

We did it!!

Happy Birthday Collin

It is my brother's birthday today and we had a quiet celebration at home. We had his favorite meal of Chicken Parmesan with Spaghetti and Lemon cake for dessert. Yummy!! He felt the need to keep reminding me all night that he isn't as old as I am yet, but I did remind him that he is closer then he wants to be. :) Joseph loved helping Uncle Collin blow out his candles and open his presents.

Getting ready to blow out his candles.

Making a wish.

A little bit about me

A friend of mine had this on her blog and I thought I would copy and share since it was so cute.

1. What is your most embarrassing moment?
When I was about seven months pregnant with Joseph, Ben and I went to a family BBQ at his
uncle's house. We were all having a great time and as we were all sitting down to eat I sat down
in a camp chair and it broke.

2. What is one big pet peeve of yours?
It drives me crazy when people constantly run late.

3. When you go shopping, what tempts you more then anything else?
Anything for Joseph, my nieces, nephews or things for the house.

4. What is your favorite thing to watch on TV?
Chopped, Bones or The Amazing Race

5. If you had 4 hours to yourself to do what you want, what would you do?
Read, clean/organize, sew or take pictures

6. What food would you find impossible to turn down if offered?
Pasta, I can't get enough of it.

7. Do you have any weird quirks that your husband has called you on?
I prefer things in even numbers. If I am eating M&M's I make sure and get an even number in my
    hand.

8. What is one holiday tradition that no matter where or who you are with you would make sure to
     implement?
Every Christmas Eve we all get to open one present and it is our new Christmas jammies.

9. What is your favorite genre to read?
I am a complete book worm and read everything, so it is hard to pick just one genre.

10. What is a job you wish you could do? (Even if you thought you didn't have the brains or ability to
do it, like gymnast or astronaut or something.)
I would like to be a psychologist since I have been told I am such a good listener or a
photographer because I love taking pictures of anyone and anything.

11. What is something silly/weird that you did as a kid?
I used to carry around a notebook that I would just write numbers in. I would start at number 1
and just keep going until the book was full.

Ice, Games and Cupcakes!!

This past weekend we had a day full of fun with Sam, Nat and the kiddos. On Saturday morning we met up with Sam and Brad at the ice rink to do a bit of ice skating, to say I was nervous would be an understatement. I haven't been ice skating in 15yrs and was not looking forward to embarrassing myself but luckily I stayed up the whole time. At one point Joseph did manage to knock Ben and himself down which he thought was hysterical. When we finished up at the ice rink we headed over to Dave and Busters for some games and lunch. The boys had a blast playing all the games and worked up quite an appetite. When we finished up with lunch we had super yummy cupcakes to celebrate Maddie's first birthday. Nat did an AWESOME job on all the cupcakes!! She did a huge one for Maddie with cute pink frosting and then for all of us she made cupcakes inside ice cream cones and frosted them. It was genius, I will be using that idea the next time I make cupcakes.

100 Days

On February 24th Joseph and his class celebrated having been in school for 100 days. Joseph had been home sick from school all week and I was worried he was going to miss this, but once his antibiotics kicked in he was good to go. He had so much fun doing all of their activities that had to do with 100 and sharing his poster. He choose to make tree trunks out of bottle caps, branches out of sour patch kids, leaves out of popcorn and clouds out of salt water taffy. He also thought it was really cool that on the following Monday it was Kindergarten 101. :)

Trees, leaves and clouds!
