Harvest Festival

Joseph's school put on another great Harvest Festival this year and Joseph loved the new addition of the bouncy slide. It was the first thing he did and went back as much as he could, but I did manage to pull him away a few times to try the other games and enjoy some pizza. It was a great night and lots of fun getting to see old and new friends.

You can never grow tired of going down a bouncy slide.

Playing games!

Mae and Joseph having a sword fight.

Weekend Fun in Glenwood Springs

So way back in September when Ben was in Minnesota on a guy's trip, Mom, Joseph and I went to Glenwood Springs for some weekend fun. We got in to town late Thursday afternoon and once we were settled at the hotel we headed over to have dinner at mom's favorite place The Italian Underground. We sure lucked out because there wasn't any wait for a table and the food was delicious as always. After dinner we just headed back to the hotel to get some rest so that we would be ready for our big day of fun on Friday. We got up early on Friday and had breakfast before heading up the mountain. They have the coolest adventure park up on top with a cave tour, lots of rides and fun games for kids of all ages. We spent all morning up there and then we came back down to have lunch at The Brew Pub before hitting the pool. It was a perfect Autumn day for swimming in the hot springs pool since there weren't very many people and the water felt great. Once Joseph had finished with that pool we grabbed some dinner before hitting the hotel pool. I would have been happy to skip that one but Joseph was so intent on going that I couldn't bear to tell him no. So we headed to another pool and had a great time, since the whole pool was designed just for kids. It had two water slides, a basketball hoop, a fountain and a hot tub. On Saturday we just had breakfast before heading out because Joseph had a soccer game and a Harvest festival to get to. We had a great time together and can't wait to do it again!!

First Day of....

First Grade!!
On September 5th Joseph had his first day of first grade. He was so excited to go to school, meet new friends and see his new classroom. He had a wonderful first day and loves his teacher Ms. Holden. I still can't believe how fast the time has flown by and that I actually have a first grader, but I do and I love that he enjoys school.

My handsome boy!

All excited and ready to go!!

Cheyenne Mtn. Zoo

Since Joseph didn't start school until after Labor Day we were able to do some more activities without huge crowds. So for our last summer adventure I wanted to change things up a bit so we went down to the Cheyenne Mtn. Zoo. It was a perfect cool day and no one was there, which made it even better. Joseph loved being able to feed and pet the Giraffe's, watch the Otter's enjoy their lunch, and see some different animals. The coolest thing was being able to see a newborn Gorilla, it was so tiny and sweet. It was a perfect way to end our summer.

Being silly!

Where is my dinner???

Am I as tall as a Giraffe?

Getting up close and personal. This Giraffe followed Joseph all along the way.

Sleepy Monkeys!!

Such a show off!

Are you looking at me?

Deja Vu. I have the same picture with Joseph when he was two. At least he is smiling in this one.

Love him!!

MacLennan Family Reunion

This summer we were lucky enough to be able to have a family reunion at Jerry and Pam's house and they were fabulous hosts and threw a great party. It was a wonderful day full of laughter, love and family. We had yummy food, great conversation and company, lots of fun activities including: Swimming, Tennis, Craw fish hunting, games, etc.. It was so nice being able to see and catch up with everyone since it had been far to long since we had all been together for a happy occasion. We missed those who weren't there, but we kept them in our thoughts and hearts.

Two peas in a pod

This summer we let Joseph have his first friend sleep over with his good buddy Levi and they had a blast!! They played hard until dinner and then took a break long enough to eat some pizza and enjoy their Root beer floats before they were off and running again. As a fun special treat at bedtime we set up a movie in Joseph's room to watch until they fell asleep and of course you can't watch a movie without popcorn, m&m's and juice. The next day I took the boys swimming and once again it was hit! They both played so hard that they were both tuckered out by the time we got home. I am so glad that Joseph has such a good friend to do fun things with.

Pizza!!

You can't have pizza without root beer floats. :)

All ready for a movie with popcorn, juice and M&M's!!

Solo Rider

We have been talking with Joseph about riding a bike on his own for some time, but whenever we brought it up Joseph wanted no part of it. So we didn't mention it for a while and one Sunday morning in August Joseph came down stairs and announced he wanted to ride his bike. So Ben went outside with him and after going up and down the street twice Joseph was riding like a pro all by himself. Joseph has been riding every chance he gets and is loving every minute of it.

Watch out mom!!

Look at him go!!
