Pre-Halloween Class Fun

Joseph's first class outing of this year was to a local photography studio who was doing a canned food drive for the homeless. Since it was Halloween the kids got to dress up in their costumes, walk through a haunted house, do a little trick or treating, have their picture taken for free and play outside. With it being so close to Halloween not many of the kids were able to make it, but those who did sure had a good time. It was also nice to help out the community and show the kids that you don't have to do much to make a difference.

Joseph's first Diorama

Joseph's first big project this year in first grade was a diorama on one of the four habitats they had been studying. Joseph spent a lot of time researching and thinking about what he wanted to do and finally chose a desert habitat. He had a ton of fun painting the sky, making all the animals, plants and sun and gluing the sand. I am so proud of all the hard work Joseph did.

Pumpkin Carving

Joseph was so excited this year that Uncle Collin was there to help carve pumpkins. Joseph was a little more into it this year and really got into the carving part, but still did not want to help with cleaning them out. Maybe someday Joseph won't mind getting his hands all slimy. :) Joseph and Uncle Collin sure carved some creative, spooky pumpkins.

Pumpkin Patch

This year instead of just going to the store to pick out our pumpkins, we went to the pumpkin patch. Of course it happened to be a cold and rainy day but that didn't slow us down to much. Joseph loved being able to run through the fields and pick out his pumpkins, but did get a little concerned when we left his pumpkins in pumpkin daycare while we did other fun activities. We had so much fun looking at all the booths, seeing the horse and bull, eating kettle corn and going through the corn maze until we got lost and it started to rain. I think it was enough of a hit that we will definitely be doing it again next year.

So many to choose from.

Ringling Bros & Barnum & Bailey Circus

So many months ago for Joseph's birthday we went to the circus. Sam and Brad were in town and were able to go with us, which made the boys super happy. It was the first time at the circus for Ben, Joseph, Sam and Brad and they all seemed to enjoy it. They put on one great show and had some really cool things to watch. I think my favorite and scariest part of the show was when they have the lions and tigers perform. I know it is part of the act for the animals to get a little ornery, but it always makes me nervous. It was so much fun watching the boys faces lit up when something really exciting happened and they were completely enthralled, especially with the motorcycle riders in the big ball. I am so glad that we were able to enjoy such a fun family experience together.

Joseph's 7th Birthday

So way back in September we celebrated Joseph's 7th birthday. I can hardly believe he is that old and becoming such a handsome young man like his dad. We had a nice quiet family celebration at home this year with homemade Mac &Cheese, salad, veggies and a Lego cake. Joseph got some pretty neat presents, but I think his favorite was his new bike which some how I didn't get a picture of. It must have been because he was riding too fast for me to catch him. It has been such a fun year for Joseph with starting 1st grade and learning so many new things. Happy Birthday Pumpkin nose, we love you so much!!
